INDIANA AMATEUR FIGHT LEAGUE
Thank you for taking the time and visiting our site.
Welcome to the home of IAFL (Indiana Amateur Fight League) This is a new league that starting up for the 2008 season. Our first event will be held in May and the season will end in Nov.
HOW WE GOT STARTED
We came up with this Idea over 10 years ago, this is when MMA was new and fighters where hard to come by. So we put this on the back burner, while still promoting events all over the State, MMA was starting to get more and more popular.
We decided since MMA became a main stream sport and spreading like wild fire, this would be the time to test the amateur league.
We ran a few ads on myspace to test the water, with in one week we had an over whelming number of teams respond as well as individual fighters. With in a couple of weeks we signed up 8 teams from across the USA and now have 80 fighters in the league.
This league was started to improve the skills of the amateur fighters, to help get them exposure and to slowly get them in the main stream, with the final result of turning them into professional fighters.
This is the first league of it's kind and we our offering Team Championship Belts ($10,000 value) to the winning team of the season, since you can not pay an amateur fighter, we can however offer the next best thing.
THE CONCEPT
We have 8 teams which are made up of 10 fighters, two fighters in each weight class. Each event will feature two teams. These two teams will compete against each other, individual wins at the event will be total up to see which team has the most wins at that event. The team that has the majority of the wins will advance to the next event.
The entire season is set up similar to an 8 man tournament, just with teams instead of individual fighters. If your team loses an event, they are out for the rest of the season. The only way a losing team can get back into the season is if a team gets DQ, to many fighters are injured or if the team forfeits their spot. At this time we will then decide which team is offered a second chance to come back and compete.
Over the years we have had countless fighters compete at our events, some of the fighters fought once and said this isn't for me and some of the fighters went on to compete and moved up to the big leagues, UFC, Pride, KOTC, and many other organizations.
It is a rare occasion that a fighter will step in to the cage at any organization and be a pro and get that big paycheck and or contract they are looking for, it's not impossible but not likely. Most fighters will have to start at the bottom and work there way up. Thats just how it works! you have to pay your dues, build a fan base, and prove to everyone that you have what it takes to draw a crowd and win your fights.
Organization want to sign contracts with fighters that please the fans, that doesn't mean you have to win all your fights, it just means you put on a great show the fans are happy and they remember and support you when you fight.
Feel free to check out the rest of the site, if you want to join the league with your team or as an individual go to the bout agreement read it over and submit your info. If you are just a fan and want to keep up on the fight league, check back often, we will be adding all the pictures and bio's of the fighters and keep you posted on all the events for the season.
